Career
Senior Software Engineer at Lindy, building AI agents. Seven years shipping developer tools, infrastructure and products, from Rust-powered GraphQL gateways and the official graphql.org website to full-stack applications and startups. Open to remote roles with US companies, or relocation to the US.
Focus
-
Developer tools and GraphQL infrastructure
Gateways, websites and code generators for the GraphQL ecosystem: Conductor, graphql.org, GraphQL Hive, GraphQL Mesh, plus my own Create Prisma Generator and TS Env Typings.
-
Rust
Conductor’s first federation query planner, Hive’s Apollo Router plugin, rust-panic-analyzer, Deadliner, a GraphQLConf 2023 workshop on fullstack Rust, and a thread pool bug worth writing about.
-
TypeScript and product engineering
Full products end to end: Knoomi (React Native, Supabase, a meal-planning engine), client work at Spantree and Your Creative People, and Memos on Google Play.
-
AI agents
My current work at Lindy.
-
Technical leadership
Founded two companies and hired and managed hardware engineers at MacroScope. Lessons in Why Engineering Timelines Collapse.
Experience
-
Senior Software Engineer, Lindy
Building AI agents at Lindy, an AI assistant platform. San Francisco Bay Area, hybrid.
-
Founder, Knoomi
A behavioral nutrition and meal intelligence platform that helps athletes decide what to eat, rather than just track what they ate.
-
Founder, MacroScope
Nutrition tracking built around a smart kitchen scale. Hired and managed hardware engineers, then pivoted into Knoomi once it was clear people needed better food decisions, not more precise tracking.
-
Senior Devtools Engineer, The Guild
Open source GraphQL infrastructure, developer tools and the official GraphQL website.
- Helped develop and maintain graphql.org, the official GraphQL website: GraphQLConf 2023, 2024 and 2025 sites, conference recordings, and the Cloudflare migration
- Co-led Conductor, a GraphQL federation gateway in Rust, and built the first version of its federation query planner
- Worked on GraphQL Hive’s Apollo Router plugin in Rust and GraphQL Mesh’s binary build
- Invited speaker at GraphQLConf in San Francisco in 2023 and 2024, and at apidays Paris
-
Senior Fullstack Consultant, Spantree
Fullstack consulting for U.S. enterprise clients from Chicago.
- Built stock trading tools for SpiderRock, an options trading technology firm
-
Fullstack Software Engineer, Your Creative People
Built the teachers' backlog UI for BJU homeschool, with an accreditation algorithm used by over 50,000 active students.
-
Open source, Memos
An open source, self-hosted alternative to Google Photos for private photo and video storage. Published on Google Play; React Native and AWS.
-
Founder, Sick Market (turned Open Source)
White-label e-commerce for Egyptian supermarkets and small shops during COVID-19, with local payment methods, QR order verification and realtime order tracking. Later open sourced.
-
Senior Fullstack Engineer, Falcon Delta, for Nestlé
A geospatial heatmap of Nestlé sales across Egypt over billions of customer records, used to plan distribution and find high-opportunity regions.
-
Lead Frontend Engineer, FictionApps
Lead and sole frontend engineer on the marketing sites for the company's mobile apps, including the ADG marketplace.
Open source
-
Helped develop and maintain the GraphQL Foundation’s website from 2023 to 2024. Built the GraphQLConf speaker and schedule pages and social images for every session, a pipeline that matches conference recordings to sessions, the Cloudflare migration, and the GraphQLConf 2024 and 2025 sites. 45 merged pull requests.
-
Co-led The Guild’s open source gateway. Built the first version of its federation support and query planner, later completed by the team after I left, npm distribution so it runs with npx, the CORS plugin, benchmarks, and a panic-free CI audit that became rust-panic-analyzer. 39 merged pull requests. The repository is now archived.
-
Reworked its Apollo Router plugin in Rust, automated releases for new router versions, and wrote the SSO guides for Okta and Azure AD.
-
Bundled Mesh as a standalone binary and shipped mesh serve as a Docker image with Hive built in.
-
Set up the Rust and WASM release pipeline for its SWC plugin. Also kept GraphQL Yoga, Envelop and GraphQL ESLint’s builds current.
Speaking
Selected writing
-
I built a tool to make Prisma generators easier to create. A few weeks later, Prisma invited me onto their official livestream to share it.
-
Two nearly identical implementations. A 4x performance difference. The culprit? A MutexGuard that lived longer than I expected.
-
I wanted to see how easily you could fake an open-source project’s popularity. So I bought 125 stars, tested whether they looked legitimate, and discovered something ridiculous.
-
I built a VS Code extension that automatically generates TypeScript definitions for environment variables, with autocomplete, type hints, and support for predefined values.
-
Five weeks became five days. Lessons from my first time managing engineers, on tradeoffs, politeness and understanding the work.
